Fear Is A Liar

MyMountain_FEARWriting this post hits close to home for me because I have always teetered on the edge of being a risk taker versus staying in my comfort zone. There have been times when I have taken the plunge and taken some chances. But there have been so many other times that I didn’t do something because I was afraid.

Afraid of what you ask? Oh, I don’t know. Maybe looking like a fool, failing miserably or falling on my face to name a few.

Fear is an interesting thing because it literally can paralyze you from actually living your true authentic life. Which is sad to say the least.

Fear is usually unfounded. We usually “fear the worst” with no real proof that the worst has any chance of actually happening. Why do we give it that power? describes fear as “A distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, etc., whether the threat is real or imagined; the feeling or condition of being afraid.”

I can understand fear if you are being chased by a bear, or a gun wielding intruder, but being afraid to apply for a better job, following your passion, telling someone your true feelings or starting a new business? Are these worthy of “distressing emotions”?

Fear is a Liar. It tells you that you can’t do or be something. It makes you worry for no good reason. It tells you a story about yourself that is limiting. It stifles. Fear is not worth your time, energy or your consideration.

Imagine what you could do if you ignored fear and just moved ahead.

Your thoughts would be clear to focus on what you were doing. There would be room in your mind for things like creativity, ideas, innovation, love and compassion. The idea of “taking risks” would be the norm and not a rare occurrence.

Sounds pretty freeing, doesn’t it?

It’s time to call fear out for being the liar that it is and giving it the boot for good. Are you ready to do this and grow in ways that you never expected?
